U.S. EPA, NHTSA Outline Tougher Light-Vehicle Fuel Economy Limits for 2017-2025
As anticipated, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on October 1 announced that they’ve launched a process to impose tougher greenhouse-gas and fuel economy standards for U.S. passenger cars and trucks built in model years 2017 through 2025.

CARB’s View on Latest U.S. EPA/NHTSA CO2/CAFÉ Limits
As expected, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) late last week unveiled a “technical assessment report” (TAR) along with a notice of intent (NOI) to impose even tougher corporate average fuel economy (CAFÉ) and vehicle carbon dioxide (CO2) limits.

U.S. Justice Department Sues Coltec over Marine-Diesel Rule
The U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) on September 30 sued EnPro subsidiary Coltec Industries, as well as General Dynamics subsidiary National Steel and Shipbuilding Co. (NASSCO), for allegedly violating the U.S. Clean Air Act and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) marine-diesel engine rules.
